Hello everyone,
I am in quite a conundrum at the moment. I have been on a med/surg floor for 2 1/2 years and am looking for a change. While I enjoy my current job to a degree, it is definitely wearing me down emotionally and physically. However, the issue is, I seem to be having trouble getting a job in a different specialty. I applied to a couple different specialties I am interested in, have had interviews with the unit manager(s), have even had some peer interviews, but I haven't received any job offers. In fact, I've received a couple rejection emails after I felt the interview went pretty well.
I was really excited because I got invited to interview on the unit of my dreams and felt like the initial and peer interview went well. I also had the opportunity to shadow and the nurse who allowed me to shadow her said she "had a good feeling" about my chances of getting hired and she would "provide positive feedback" for me as a candidate to management. However, the charge nurses (who did my peer interview), told me if I was chosen for the job I should have heard from the manager today. In addition, I sent the manager a "thank you for the opportunity to interview" email, which I did not receive a response to. Just makes me feel like without hearing back when they said I would or getting an email back, I probably am no longer being considered as a viable candidate. I don't understand what I could be doing wrong besides getting very nervous during the interviews. I have quite a few certifications beyond BLS and I work at a well renowned hospital currently. Just looking for some advice or camaraderie from nurses who have been in a similar situation. Thanks everyone!
