The school I attend requires us to use a web to start our write-up for care plans. Once we decide on the nursing DX that we will use then we have to draw lines relating them to each other. I don't have any problems with any other part of the care plan except this one step. Here's my current question?

Does "Deficient Fluid Volume cause "Impaired Gas Exchange"?

no. look at the underlying pathophysiology of the medical diagnosis going on as well as the signs and symptoms that might be related to find the links between the patient's nursing problems (nursing diagnoses).
