Trouble finding job in middle ga area

Published

Specializes in med-surg, peds, ICU stepdown.

Has anybody else had trouble finding a position in the middle ga area for an RN? All the hospitals have very limited openings. It's very discouraging especially if you are only interested in one area.

Specializes in CVICU.

Have you tried MCCG?

I graduated in May and just accepted a job on monday. It is not easy to find a job right now - especially for new grads. What I was hearing from HR departments is that there are not enough experienced nurses to train all the new nurses???

Anyway, Good luck!!

Congratulations bimmersbabe:yeah:. Where are you going to be working? I have applied to MCCG but word is there is fixing to be a hiring freeze.

Specializes in all of hospital with exception to ICU..

LPN around Columbus area and having extreme difficulty finding a job. Everybody wants experienced nurses!!! If nobody gives you a chance, then you'll never have experience outside of clinical!!! UGHHHH!!!!!!! I've even tried applying for doctors offices....hospital is my passion med surg, but oh well....still waiting to hear something from the base on Ft Benning....I really don't want to work there. My husband is military and I swear everybody I have come across in that hospital are just negative....doesn't seem like a good work environment. Maybe it is different on the inside.

I feel your pain & frustration lpnboo. I just accepted a position monday, it only took about 3 months. I ran into the same issues with nobody giving me chance with no experience. I finally found a nurse manager that believes in giving people a chance. I will be working ICU stepdown, can't wait, but scared!!

Thanks nursie, it is good knowing that there are some people in this area that are willing to give new graduates a chance. I'm sure it will take me some time and my instructor told me not to take a job that I will not like, but I have to get experience, so I will probably take the first job that comes available to me. I will have to get my bama license also....we are in the process of moving to Phenix City. My poor husband....right now he is carrying all of us....his three children, that he has custody of and my two + me. He also is having medical issues with his heart...I feel like I am caught in some kind of daytime drama hahaha.....I am keeping my spirit up!

Anyway, :w00t::ancong!::yeah: You will do fine in step down and get plenty of experience! They will train you. I never got to work ICU in clinical or step down. We started working ICU and the ICU nurses were only making the other students clean up stuff and they weren't learning anything, so they got pulled after one day of it. You will be fine and if you were not nervous, then you might have something to worry about haha...it means you will be extra careful and there is nothing wrong with that! Good luck and thanks again!
