Trinitas School of Nursing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, I'm registering for Trinitas School of Nursing this Fall. Can anyone provide any insight into the program? I'll be taking night and weekend classes only because I need to work full-time. Any full-time working Trinitas students out there with experience in the program?? I'd appreciate any and all advice, tips, etc.

Thanks!

Leslie

I'm applying for fall also I have friends that go there they will be doing nursing 131 fall semester.

Oh nice! What do your friends say about the program so far. I'm nervous because I work full-time and from what I hear it's best you don't work at all. Can you provide any insight or tips?

Hi- I'm a NURE 132 student. Trinitas is very hard and working full time will be tough- but doable. You probably won't be able to have much of social life to be honest! NURE 130 warms you up for 131 which is much, much harder. Many people did not pass, so you have to make sure studying is a top priority. Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for responding to my post! I start 130 this Sept. I'm nervous and from what I hear from girls.. they make me nervous saying I'll eventually need to leave my job. Yikes.. no way can i do that being that I'm on my own! I see soo many girls get accepted into the program so I'm just confused by some of their statements. Any more advise you can give? I'm all ears!

I have lots of advice! first off, generally, all of the applicants get into Trinitas- so you kind of have to take everyone's comments with a grain of salt. My class started off with 150 and we are now down to 51. Which is a scary number but you have to remember that pretty much everyone that applied got in as long as they met the GPA requirements.

NURE 130 is very straight forward, just the foundations of nursing. Has some history, medical terminology, and theories along with math that will follow you through the rest of the program! I would make sure youre very comfortable with the math because in 131 and on there are always 10 math questions on the tests and if you're good with math you're guaranteed those points!

as far as studying make sure you really study the powerpoints and what they're teaching you in lecture. a lot of girls in my group last year failed because they went crazy learning every single little detail from the book. The details are not usually important until the later courses.

Who do you have for 130? I had castillo and he was super helpful at letting you know where to focus for the tests and his math techniques were great!

Thank you so much for the advice and sorry for the lateness, I just found out today I have Castillo I heard he's really good, the math is a bit challenging for me but I will study

Hey I was just wondering how the program is going so far? I will be starting in spring with some pre reqs and hopefully starting nursing next fall. I like you will have to work and cannot quit my job, so I have to do the evening program. please update me as you go along, so I can be sore of prepare.

thank you!

I think it depends how you manage your time. I am just starting NURE 130 this spring 2016. I have been in the school since May'15. My job haven't kill me as some people says but I guess I do manage my time. As long as you find time to read, study and practice your skills I think it should be fine. Many people in my chemistry class where saying class is hard , but while the professor was explaining they were either in LALA land or texting and using their phones. Hopefully that change when they go to nursing otherwise, they will be blaming trinitas for their failure. I think all courses can be challenging if you not spend some hours a day to study. So far, I have been doing pretty good in Union College even I work full time. However, if you study the week before the test you will be in trouble unless you are a genius.

My advise to all the students that work full time is that use at least 1 hour or 2 a day for homework, study and assignments . You will have more than 14 hours a week and believe is a lot. Try to do the homework as soon as you get it otherwise, you work will accumulate.

HINT: For any class you take there is a syllabus . Follow it, to read ahead of time what is going to be in class the next day. Go over it before class and the professor will be refreshing what you already read to me it make it easier.

Anyway good luck in your nursing program.
