Anyone ship their car cross country to a travel location?

Forgot to mention that I live in Maryland. Hence the reason I won't drive cross country to San Antonio alone ever again!! Took me 27hrs (2days). I want to save hassle and time this time instead of money : )

Hi!

I just arranged to have my car transported across country.... from PA to CA. Typed in "car transport review" into google & found a great site which helped me choose my company. They plan on picking my car up right at my home & delivering it on an agreed upon place out west. I'll let you know how it goes when everything is said & done!

I picked Cascade. They got consistently good reviews online, though there were plenty others with decent reviews as well. We'll see! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Mine will come to just under a thousand. Prices seem to vary depending on location. Feels like a lot, when I consider the wear & tear I'm avoiding on driving the car out, plus the stress of driving on me, cost of gas & hotel overnights I'm not shelling out, it seems somewhat worth it. Plus, I'm moving west with my kitty who hates, hates the car, so it was a no-brainer for me.

Can you pack your non perishable items in the car before shipping. I'd hate to loose all that space, of course maybe I take too much.

Most companies ask that the car is free of your belongings, probably due to liability & maybe also weight. I was going to try to slip in a pillow & set of sheets... something light & not valuable. Hopefully I'll know more in a few days!

Good question about shipping the car with items in it. Thats funny, I'm traveling with my kitty too : ) Have you ever traveled with your cat on a plane before? I'm so worried about that too. Thanks for the info. Hope to you have happy travels and please do keep in touch when you and your car land safely. : )

Cool coincidence! This will be my first time traveling with my cat. I'm super anxious about that part... about how kitty will hold up. Will most definitely pass along any pointers in that department too! Flying out the end of this week. Thanks for the well wishes!

My update :-)

Car: I flew from PA to Cali last week & my car has yet to be picked up to make to trip. Errr. Apparently the company is having trouble locating a carrier/driver heading to Sacramento. Larger cities are easier to arrange than smaller ones, I'm told. I'll be renting a vehicle for another week $$$! Naturally, I'm not happy. I'd recommend giving the company you choose many weeks notice, esp if the drop off location isn't, well, LA. I'll continue to keep you posted.

Kitty: Not sure who was more anxious about my cat's being on the plane- me or him! It was a very long day for both of us, but with the help of a mild nausea med/ sedation from the vet we managed. He got a small meal four hours before the flight & then npo. I took him out of the carrier in the airport & plane's restrooms to do range of motion exercises :-) I also brought along a zippy of clean litter & foldable clothing gift boxes in my carry-on to use as a temporary litter pan when we made it to our hotel. Airline staff & flight crew didn't bat an eye. Do call the airline personally when you make your reservations. Most have a limited number of pets allowed per flight.
