Travel nursing

Published

I'm in the middle of my first 13 week contract job as a travel nurse. I have ICU background, particularly MICU. I am not planning on renewing my contract at this particular hospital (for many reasons). If you have experience as a travel nurse, what hospital was your favorite? Which ones would you warn against? I'd love to hear some of your experiences, both positive and negative. Thanks!

Don't go to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. They aren't traveler friendly. They will tell you they have 6 different ICU's and when you interview they tell you they will cross train you for all of them so you can help them in all their ICU's. When you arrive you find out they actually meant you're a house float who is capable of also floating to the ICU. Then you'll spend at least 50% of your time floated to Medical floors against your will stuck in a contract. You'll explain to them you have no background in anything but ICU and never learned to function in the medical floor nurse role and you don't feel it safe, they won't care. Just a warning heads up, I wish someone had told me.
