Hi everyone!
So I have finally started to seriously look into travel nursing starting this June. By the time I start, I will have just under 3 years of inpatient pediatric hospital experience on a medical/surgical floor with neurology/neurosurgery focus. I am curious to hear from others what the availability of jobs for peds is during the summer months? The recruiters I've talked to say there are always jobs available but don't they have to tell me that? I am most interested in traveling to Boston or Baltimore area, Colorado, and California.
I am really excited for this new adventure but want to make an informed decision before leaving my permanent job. I appreciate any feedback from any and all specialties people work in as travelers! :)

You can always get a reality check by asking recruiters for specific job availability. Ask about general availability and you will get a general yes. If they are reluctant to talk about specific locations and pay without mucho paperwork, to me that is a red flag on several levels. Trust is the big red flag.
As I understand it, there is generally a generally higher peds census in the winter. You probably see that in your own hospital. I have an ED travel friend whose assignments at one California peds hospital are only in the winter. I would think you should be able to travel easily year round, just with fewer open assignments in the summer.
