Hi there! I was wondering if there was such thing as a Home Exchange for travel nurses. We are looking into traveling but do not want to sell our home or rent it out long term. VRBO and Airbnb is an option but it almost seems easier to have a furnished home ready for another traveler who is doing the same time frame of an assignment. Thoughts? Suggestions?

It sounds like the good idea that nobody has started yet. I've had more than one nurse in my current facility telling me that they took travel assignments before in my hometown. We could have traded houses

I'd say that the vast majority of travelers do not have local travel jobs and that staff pay is low in their area. Plus it would be pure luck if logistically there were the right jobs in the right specialty in two specific places and could fill at the same time. So a house exchange seems improbable.
Long term rental is also a non-starter. You would lose your tax home and all your compensation will be taxable.
One solution if your house is suitable is to get a housemate. That is a win in almost every way. You can return at any time meeting one of the requirements for tax home maintenance. You have someone to look after your property and even check your mail. They get a great deal paying housemate rent and not having to share for most of the year. Also, housemates can be evicted at any time unlike lease holders. Tenancy at will.
