Travel Nursing in Hawaii

Published

I am an RN with over 4 years of experience working as an emergency room nurse. I am currently working in Oregon, but have a license in Hawaii. I am hoping to find a travel nurse contract and start working in an emergency room in Hawaii, preferable in the Honolulu area, in January 2018.

Unfortunately, I have not seen a lot of travel nurse contracts available on the sites I have visited.

Does anyone have experience working as a travel nurse in Hawaii?

Where and how should I find travel nurse contracts in Hawaii?

Advise appreciated :)

Try talking to large agencies like Cross Country and American Mobile about your odds. Most job posts online are fake in any case.

No a lot of positions on either site. Was wondering if there are any agencies that specialize in Hawaiian placements.

Forget about what's on the site. Talk to actual recruiters. There are far more travelers who want to go to Hawaii than there are jobs. So some agencies may reserve slots for valued travelers, or at least travelers who have already successfully completed assignments with them. The only way to discover how many jobs are out there and your shot at getting one is by talking to potential employers.

However, I did forget some other possibilities. There are (or were) two agencies in Hawaii that use travelers: Kahu Malama Nurses and Altres Medical. Call them too. They should know better about hospital politics and hiring practices than the mainland agencies. One other agency to try, Worldwide (I believe they are in NY). They really like staffing exotic locations, places like USVI and Guam, so they should have contracts with all the Hawaii hospitals too.
