Travel Nurse in Northern NJ

Published

Hello! I am thinking of signing a nursing contract in northern New Jersey (Bergen County Area) in mid April 2015. I have never done travel nursing before but have 6 years RN experience, the last 3 of which are in critical care. I am wondering if anyone knows what the stipen and pay rates are for this area? I have never signed with a travel company before and do not want to get taken advantage of by my recruiter. Any helpful tips or information?

Yes, if you talk to multiple agencies you will know what is fair. Think shpping for cars. Would you just check one dealer?

By the way, while I would like to work in NJ, I have always avoided it. Crummy BON policies. Very expensive.

Specializes in Tele, Medsurg, Stepdown.

I've been working contracts here in NJ for about a year and you can add terrible staffing ratios to that, at least in Medsurg. I thought I might have been unlucky with the 2 hospitals I have been to (Overlook and Chilton, both ran by Atlantic Network) but locals tell me that nope, nursing just sucks all over this state. Can't wait to leave.

If you're wondering why I've stayed so long is because I met my wife in NY and we both moved here in search of cheaper housing. But I'm just not a fan of Jersey.
