Travel nurse jobs in downtown Chicago

Published

Does anyone have any information about travel nursing jobs in downtown Chicago? Most recruiters have told me that it is very rare for there to be open travel nursing jobs in downtown Chicago. Does anyone have any advice for getting a Chicago travel job? I am also considering working for a local agency and would love some info about that as well. My specialty is NICU and I have 3 years experience and 8 months travel experience (3 contracts)

I was trying to get a travel nursing job in Chicago before I moved there a few years ago. The only thing I could get was a Per-Diem/Registry type travel position through Aya Healthcare, which I would NOT recommend. The first week of my contract, I only worked 16 hours so I ended up having to cancel the contract because it didn't seem like I would be getting my hours...ever. I got cancelled just about every night. Chicago doesn't use a lot of travel nurses because they use their local agencies to fill contracts.

The OP started another thread in Agency Nurses with identical text and apparently never returned. Here is my reply from that thread:

Chicago is a strange market with few travelers and lots of registry. Your best bet for a travel contract is with local agencies. Try Acumen Medical Staffing, AMR ProNurse, Brighton Staffing, Healthcare Personnel Inc., M3 Medical Group, MedStaff Alternatives, and NovaStaff. All have provided travel contracts in Chicago in the past.
