If your a 2ndLT in the USAR with an ADN and decided to go active duty in the USA (once you've obtained your BSN), would the Army require you to attend the 12 week OBC even if you already attended the 2 week reserve OBC?

It depends on how long ago you took the course, but usually the answer seems to be yes. I do know of many people who had to retake it, but not everyone had to.

Just out of curiosity. I thought you had to have a BSN in order to enter the Armed Forces as a commissioned officer.

She had stated this would be after completion of her BSN.

No, once you have successfully completed [achieved course standards, see DA Form 1059] the AMEDD OBC [RC] you will not be required to attend the 12 week OBC [AC].

I spent over two hours at the 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion, FSHTX, today. I signed a Letter of Intent to acknowledge my acceptance of appointment as First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps with concurrent call to active duty, and 1st assignment guarantee to BAMC for a three year committment. Plus, guaranteed generic course option of the Critical Care Course.

In otherwords, in less than a month I'll be leaving the Reserves & joining the [AC] side of the house. BTW, I was told today I will not be attending the 12 week OBC [AC].

HOOAH!

Edit; I found out yesterday that BAMC has no openings for critical care nurses. Therefore, I'll be reporting to Madigan Army Medical Center, WA, on 03 APR 06, then start the critical care course at MAMC on 23 APR 06, and remain there after the 12 week course as a critical care nurse [66H8A].
