Hello and welcome to the site

Finally! I've been wanting to start a thread similar to this since I want to know the experiences of transpeople in the NHS. By the way, I am just starting my application in NMC and I would like to know about your journey as a transgender nurse in UK. Would you mind sharing and be an inspiration to a fellow transgender and an aspiring nurse in UK? In what trust are you employed and is discrimination really inevitable? :)

I work in a small northern NHS trust, i transitioned long before started nursing, and im openly trans at work. I can't say i have ever been discriminated against, people see the uniform and not the person i think. I haven't had any real issues a few interesting questions and the normal bull **** that every one gets. I think the idea that trans people are discriminated against is not really true at least for young reasonable looking trans people in the NHS. Just keep you head down and do what you are told and how you are told by the senior nurses and it will all be fine :) x
