Transferring to WA State

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Hello,

I am currently working on my prerequisites in Arizona and plan to transfer to a nursing program in the King County/Snohomish County area upon completion of all of the nursing prerequisites required to transfer. Does anyone know the general wait time to get into one of the programs there and the limit of schools you can apply to at once? I have a few schools in mind (Everette/ Renton/Seattle central) and possibly some of the schools in Tacoma (Tcc/Bates). I would really appreciate some feedback from anyone who is currently in the program. I am pretty much done after finishing up AP for the required prerequisites for the mentioned schools. I am also wondering what the required GPA in each of the science courses is. I've heard that you need at least a 2.0 but also a 3.0 for each. How competitive is the program? Any input would be great. Thank you :-)

All of the programs are a little different and have slightly different requirements. You should look up the application requirements for each program you are planning on applying to. I don't think there is a limit to how many programs you can apply for, but most (probably all) have application fees, so you should only apply to those you really would like to attend. As far as how long the wait time is from application to notification of admission, that would again vary by school.

Look up the programs you are planning on attending and contact the admissions people if you need more information. I go to Bellevue College, and would be happy to answer questions about that program if it is one you are interested in.

Yes, like previous poster stated look up req's for all the differ schools because they are different. Those with competitive entry you will need a high GPA. No 2.0's. Some schools go by the TEAS test score, some GPA w/volunteer and work exp, and one is first come first in. So you will need to look at each school. I go to shoreline comm college. You can apply at as many schools as you want to. Just have to pay the fees. Good luck! It is very competitive here.

I'm from wa and our schools are very hard to get into almost every school requires a b or better for all science classes or you need to retake them this includes a and p 1 and 2, chem 121, microbiology, lifespan psychology ,stats , public speaking all usually need a b or better or you cannot apply. Most schools also want you to have your CNA license before applying as we'll. good luck

Yikes! I am currently a CNA and patient care tech with plenty of experience. I definitely do not have all A's/B's in the science portions of the prerequisites. My overall GPA is 3.5.

Bellevue is definitely one of my top choices for the program. How long was the wait for you after applying? Is Bellevue pretty competitive to get into? Thanks.

Your gap is good just make sure all those sciences are b or better ! I live in the Lacey area and this is my las quarter for my associates of pre nursing I'm takin a and p 2 and organic chemistry yikes! But then I will be done and can apply to different schools. I have heard Bellevue is a good school to go too also try the Seattle area schools and olympic college in bermerton
