Transferring into Rutgers-Newark bsn program

Hello everybody. Has anybody tried to transfer into their program? I know that you have to spend a year at their college in one of their "schools" then transfer into their program. Now once you do that...what year do you start in their program according to their curriculum?

Anybody out there that has had this experience? Please help. Will greatly appreciate it.

hey maddy just to clear something up i already took micro and stats-both at rutgers over the last summer and spring semster (in fact during that spring semster i took AP at essex and micro at rutgers- running from campus to campus!). I did apply to seton hall and felican along with rutgers but only Rutgers admitted me directly into their nursing program. Seton hall told me no an feliecan accepted me as a regular student (were i would latter need to apply to the nursing program).

As for 2015 i have talked numerous times with the nursing academic advisor, assuming i pass this semster (at least a C in all classes) I will be starting clincals next fall. Clincals are 2 years so i would finish in 2015

Hi!

I'm also in ECC, I applied the their RN program but don't think I'll be accepted this fall. I have a low GPA of 3.19 hopefully with the classes I take this summer and fall I raise it up and apply to Rutgers Spring 2015 then transfer school to school.

the info in this thread was very useful and answered a couple of my questions I had in mind as well

Tution is for 12 credits about 6200$ more than essex but cheaper thanseton hall. Fincial aid is ok, though I have not been full time at other collges so I can't compare and yes I have taken on some loans.[/quote']

Is $6200 before or after financial aid?

I appreciate your willingness to answer questions :) how affordable is the program? I know rutgers is pretty cheap especially compared to other BSN programs, but I'm pretty terrified.

Also, how is financial aid? How was your GPA? Were you able to take lower level nursing courses while you were in the school of arts and science?

You can take lower level classes while in SAS, but you should be on the waiting list already. You can have a lower GPA if you want to transfer into the Newark program, new brunswick program most students have a 3.6 or higher. It's really hard.

Affordability is the same Rutgers-wide not CON specific, but if you are a minority you can probably get into the EOF program? not sure!

Thanks so much for the information! I intend on going to SAS in NB, but CON in Newark bc it will be closer to home and more convenient as far as punctuality and what not.

I'm not a minority, but I make out very well with financial aid at the moment so hopefully that will be the case while at Rutgers also. My current GPA is a 3.9. Hopefully I can keep that up @ SAS.

Take easy classes that fill the college of nursing general education requirements. Anatomy and phys is very hard so take that at a community college BEFORE you get into the program. You can have a lower GPA (like 3.2-3.3) when you state on your application that you want to transfer to Newark's program because people seek that out less.

Awesome. Sounds great. I have most of my prereqs completed, which is why I asked yesterday if I'll be able to take lower level nursing classes while at SAS. I have taken A&P at my current school (community college), the only science I need to complete is nutrition, which my school stupidly doesn't offer. Thanks so much for all your help!

Does this mean that a student can only take Lower level nursing classes after they've applied school to school? As in the twenty four credits would need to be completed already?
