Hi all. Here's my situation.
I recently failed out of a BSN program in the third semester due to receiving
Long story short, I met with the interim dean of the NSC SON and she said I was eligible to transfer into second semester of their program for Spring 2014 once I finish all the school's prereqs (which I'm taking this fall semester), get my credits evaluated, get a letter from my previous school, etc., which was EXTREMELY positive news for me to hear. I won't have to start from first semester since I passed all of those courses at my previous BSN program. This means after 3 semesters, I can graduate with my BSN and take the NCLEX. I am so glad that I am able to continue my nursing education. I was so close to giving up entirely, but I was so close to graduating previously and I know I can do better the second time around, given the chance.
My question is: are my chances good at transferring into the program? NSC only has 16 spots in their regular track and part time track each (I am not eligible for the accelerated track since I do not have a previous bachelor's). I won't even know if I'm able to transfer until December, literally right after final exam week. Has anyone been able to transfer into NSC's program (or other school with a similar number of spots) successfully?

Hello NurseStudent114,
Will you be starting the program at NSC this week? I wish I saw your thread earlier. I do have a friend who was in the same situation as you. In my opinion, you have a good chance at getting into NSC's program. First semester at NSC is very tough (i'm happy that you will not be experiencing it), and there's almost always a couple students who either fail out of first semester or end up quitting.
I know a few people who have been in your situation, and they were able to obtain a spot in NSC's program. I have not a doubt in my mind that you will be one of them.
Good luck. & Let me know if you have any further questions about the school.
Sincerely,
Recent NSC Graduate.
808_hi,
Yes! I will be starting the second semester of the regular track tomorrow. I will be taking med surg (which I already passed, but NSC won't let me skip classes with any clinicals) and maternal/child nursing (which is a combination of the two classes that I failed at my previous program).
Thank you very much for your input. I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one with this kind of situation and that there were other nurses like me who eventually graduated.
