I'm going to become a CNA soon and i live in new york city. However, in a few years i plan on moving to pennsylvania. My one friend told me that i would have to re-take the exam in order to become a CNA in Pennsylvania as the certification does not transfer from state to state. Is she right? Can anyone please explain to me how this works? Would i really have to do this in order to become a CNA in pennsylvania?

Every state is different
You'll have to look up PAs CNA registry to see what will be required of you. Usually you have to show proof of other states registry. Proof of current employment at other state. Some states you only have to fill out paperwork to get another States registry other times yes you may have to take that states CNA exam to be qualified for registry.
Really transfer is probably not the right word to use for what it is you are doing. You will be on NewYorks CNA registry until such time it expires. You are looking to be in PAs registry so you need to follow there rules to be able to apply. Once you are on PAs registry you will be on both registers.
I hope I helped and did not confuse you.
