Transfer my RN license from IN to KY

Nurses General Nursing

Hi everbody,

I am a new grad and just passed the boards in Indiana... just got my RN license. I live really close to Kentucky and I was wondering if I can transfer my license to either have both or just the one in KY.

I applied for IN first because I wanted to be closer to home, I don't have many options of hospitals here though and I am already thinking of a second plan because so far I didn't hear anything from the hospitals I applied (except for one that already told me "no"). I tried to call the State board of Nursing of KY but did not reach anyone... also tried to look at the website and did not find anything about it...

If you are from IN or KY and know about it, I'd truly appreaciate you help!

Thanks in advance!

You can apply for a license in KY without taking the NCLEX again and have them in both states. In KY, new grads have to have worked 120 hours as an RN Applicant before they can get a KY license. You still have to do this even if you have a license in IN. Hours in IN count. So if you've already worked those in IN, you should just have to apply. Go to the KBN website for more info.
