What does your unit do in this situation?
Baby with trach is on trach collar trials 1-3 hours per day and on cpap the rest of the time. What do you do with the tubing while he is on trach collar. Is it replaced each time it comes off or is it stored. If so how do you try to keep it "sterile" It seems like the proper method would be to replace it each time but this probably isn't cost effective. I would think it would be a breeding ground for bacteria if it is just lying around. I'd love anyones input!!! Thanks

We have caps that our RT's supply us with...we cap our ambu bags and ET tubing when not in use. You could always wrap it in a sterile drape and tape it up.

We have the caps too. A sterile glove maybe?
