TOWES assessment

Published

I did not do bio, chem nor phys at a grade 12 level but i would like to get into nursing.

I met with a career guidance counselor that has suggested i take the TOWES test. I have called a school that said i do not need to take the towes that i can start Biology & chem today.Since these are subjects i have the least knowledge about if its OK to go ahead and start,is there a basic introductory thats taught n then a student goes from there?

I graduated 12yrs ago with not very good math skills.

Is it worth taking the Towes?

That could have been me 20 years ago. I didn't do any sciences in high school and my math skills were rather rudimentary. I was given the "option" of taking all the prerequisite high school courses through continuing ed and then applying. I chose instead to take a community college-level anatomy and physiology course that gave me a foot in the door. For you, I'd say don't take the TOWES test, do the high school upgrading and then apply.

Thank you for your advice.

How does this work can a person just do grade 12 in bio etc n get in without having the knowledge of grade 11 or 10

I am looking at bakerview center for learning, seems focused on continuing education.I would like to start something now and get into the university and maybe do math n other subjects if i dont get them done from now to nxt yr fall.

Bakerview is exactly the sort of programme I was suggesting. You should contact them today and find out how to enroll, what the costs will be and what else you need to do to get the ball rolling.
