Can any RNs elaborate on what they found to be "tough" about nursing school? It'd sure be nice to know what I'm getting myself into :)
Thanks

I just graduated in May. I don't think nursing school is necessarily "tough". It is more that the educators are making sure that we learn and do all that we can effectively in order to graduate and successfully pass the nursing boards. There will be many nursing care plans that you will be required to do. There will be papers, exams, skills competencies, and long clinical days, and you feel that you will never be able to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. But all of these things are only to prepare you and help you become a competent and successful nurse. Take it one day at a time. Please keep up with your reading assignments, and keep thinking of your dream of becoming a nurse. Good luck to you!!

Howdy. I'm not an RN yet, but I am in nursing school. Sometimes it seems like an awful lot of stuff we need to know....phew! I think the best advice I've gotten so far is to keep up on the reading. I think it's also good to take advantage of lab time and practice, practice, practice! It's a blast but you'll definitely EARN that degree!

What's tough to me about nursing school is figuring out how the instructors test. Before nursing school, I could just last minute cram learn and make straight As. In nursing school, you not only have to KNOW and UNDERSTAND the information, but you must be able to prove that you can APPLY it!!!! But, that's how you are tested on boards (so I hear...). I agree with the above poster that said that there is a ton of content!!!!
It is SO, SO worth it!!! And I haven't even graduated yet!!!
May 2006 - woo hoo!!!

Everything!
No, no....just kidding :chuckle
Balancing your life can be tough. Trying to meet family obligations (or even seeing your family), having a social life, balancing the sheer volume of work/clinical....add maybe a part-time job....and trying to keep your sanity! :rotfl:
But, the good news? It's possible! Thousands have before....
