Honestly, it's really tough. I've asked advice from a lot of nurses, and the results are 50/50. Just looking for a few more opinions and insight:
Got a job offer for Telemetry Unit at Veterans Hospital Long Beach AND
a Case Management job working for an Insurance Company.
Both are more money than I make now, and I'm kinda burnt out on ICU anyway. So I'm probably going to take one of them.
Pros of VALB:
Government retirement/benefits/etc
Probably a lot of $
Good Education Loan Repayment/Continue Education opportunities (I've got some hefty student loans)
Cons of VALB:
Night shift (I do have a son who misses me a lot)
Telemetry Unit, different from what I'm used to, I've floated to Tele before, it was ok.
Pros of Insurance Case Management Job:
Case Management is hard to break into, and they will train me.
Still a bit more money than what I make right now.
The hours: m-f 8-5
Cons of Case Management Job:
Well...doesn't seem to be much other than working 5 days a week, which I do sometimes anyway for the overtime.
Probably the tough skin I'm going to have to develop when people don't agree with decisions I have to make.
So what would you recommend???
