Took NCLEX RN 9 months after graduation, ran out of time and STILL PASSED

Published

Hi Everyone,

So my graduation was April 1st, 2015 and I found out I was pregnant with my second child a week prior. This pregnancy is totally different from my first, probably because I'm having a girl this time. I was so sick the first trimester and I had some complications. The situation resolved its self and I started to feel better in October. So that's when I started studying a little. But didn't give it my ALL until November. I used Kaplan. I broke it down and did each sub-category of the q-banks and scored 47%-60% the first time then of course my scores increased. I remediated every question and took notes. I did question trainers 4-6, didn't have time to take 7. I scored 50%, 52%, and 50%. So you can see I was not reaching that 65% like they say you should. Remediation is key!

I took the NCLEX yesterday, November 30th, 2015. I was a nervous WRECK! When I say I was a nervous wreck, I MEAN IT! I couldnt even sleep the night before. I swear I probably got 2 hours of sleep. smh. My husband had more faith in me than I did for myself. I got the first question and was intimidated! I stayed focused and took my time. I truly didnt think they would give me 265 questions. NO not me! smh boy I was wrong. I reached 180 and was getting tired. Praying it would shut off after this question. But it didnt. I ran out of time on question 229. I didnt want to rush at the end. I wanted to get as many right as possible.

I just KNEW I failed. I knew it. I thought it was no way I passed but I typed my name in and there it was...my license number. Brought tears to my eyes. Im still in shock. Im so happy I got over this hurdle. Now I can just focus on my baby girl arriving around Christmas. So for those that dont take their NCLEX right after graduation, you can still pass on the first try. Just give it your ALL and go for it!
