I have been reading these boards for some time now, but I decided to finally join.
I took the TEAS 6 today and I did pretty good. I got an overall of an 80%
For the reading I got 74.5, math 87.5, science 76.6, and and 87.5 in english.
I did a lot better in the math and science than I thought I was going to. My only issue is that I need an 80% in the reading section for the program that I am applying to. I only need a 60% for the rest. I am so frustrated! I am so close to the score I need. I enrolled to take the exam again on 4/28 (my school makes you wait three months in between retakes).
For studying I used quite a few books. The main one I used was the ATI TEAS 6 Study Manual. I also used one of their version 5 books, the ATI Secrets, and Trivium's ATI TEAS. I mostly read through the ATI book and used the rest for their practice exams. I bought one of the practice exams from the ATI store, and also found as many practice exams online as I could.
I guess my main concern for having to retake the exam in three months is not doing so well on the math and science portions. I struggled with these areas when I was studying and doing practice exams, but I thought the actual exam wasn't too bad. I just fear that I will forget everything by the time April comes around. I recently finished A&P 2 in December so I am afraid it won't be as fresh in my mind.
I scored pretty well in the reading sections of all the practice tests I have taken so this is pretty surprising/upsetting to me.
What also has me bummed is that I needed to pass this test in order to apply to the fall 2018 semester and March is the deadline. I now have to wait until Spring 2019 I feel like I have been waiting forever to apply for the nursing program and I just feel like giving up at times!
I guess I just needed to vent since it is still so new to me. I am also looking for as much advice as you guys can offer! I am sort of bad when it comes to studying and I don't want to wait until the last month to start so if anyone has any study tips I would love to hear them. Also, I would like to know what study guides worked best for everyone else.
Sorry for the long post! And thank you for letting me vent.
