Too many hoops to jump through

Published

I am down to the wire on making my mind up to take the nurse refresther course to get back into nursing after 8 years. Way to much paper work and everyone wants some money along the way. The school, the BON, each place you held a lic wants their cut. Now all the stuff I read about people going back into nursing is enough to make you have those cold sweats I used to get when I walked onto the floor and would find out I am the only one for 12 patients, 3 fresh post ops, 2 incoming from surgery, and no CNA's. I am really on the edge of the bed pan right now. I guess they still use those,or have things change there also. I am 62 and I am thinking it may be too late!! B

Hello I am 59 why dont you try private duty

Thanks for the advice. Great idea. That doesn't eliminate the hoops of getting your license. I think it could be done much easier with more of a benefit for the nurse returning and the health care industry. Thanks Barb

What do you think about just starting at 59 with LPN school?

I think it is great. If I could do it over I would have worked a little so I could meet the requirements, instead of just keeping an active license. I didn't know you had to work within a certain time period. Certainly my fault. But still doesn't make it any easier to get back into the profession. Good luck. I know you will make a fine nurse. It is a tough decision no matter when you decide. Just don't let them eat you alive!!!! That hasn't changed from what I read. Thanks for writing. Barb
