Too discouraged to try again

Published

I have been away for a while. I am trying to ponder almost two years after of graduation on why after failing the NCLEX-RN so many times that I should just give up. After multiple failures and thousands of dollars wasted; what is the point. All anybody can tell me is to try again. I read somewhere that first time pass rate is 85% on NCLEX. To me thats not all that impressive. Given the fact that nursing school drills critical thinking to no end. I mean what does an entry-level nurse knows anyway. You only gain competency with knowledge through experience working as a nurse. I had classmates who slept in class and come to class when they feel like it. And they pass the NCLEX. Wheres the justice? I am so sick of people saying that God helped me pass the NCLEX I am going to puke. I was so paranoid of failing I maintained perfect attendance and got good grades in class and clinical. What good did it do me. It is impossible to know everything about nursing. To me NCLEX is a lottery. I don't care what anybody says that i isnt. Who pays $200.00 every time you sit for the exam and hope and pray that you pass. My odds are probably better in a casino. :crying2:

I know how it feel.......with my two failed exam...i want to give up too when i received the results. When I took he exam I read Kaplan, Saunders, and Lippincott books. I am a dean's lister when I was in my Nursing School , my grades are all high......everybody says I am a a good nurse worked as a Staff Nurse In one of the prestigious private hospital in the Philippines for 5 1/2 years then I am currently working now here in UK since 2002 and I am doing so well, coping very well!!! But why ..when I take this exam not once but twice I failed...Yes I am thinking sometimes NCLEX is a lottery....but now...I am on my way to my next challenge....try again and I hope by this time I can make it! Will take Suzanne's Plan by this time with all my heart...

I thank this site for giving me so much HOPE! :D

I hear where you are coming from. I did well in school and clinicals too and graduated in 2007 and just took the test for the 3rd time on Monday. Still waiting to hear my results, but my advice is DON'T GIVE UP! If you need to, take some time away from it to gather your thoughts (not too much time though!). I may have to remind myself this after I find out how I did, but believe me, you CAN pass it. If you were able to get that degree, you're able to do this. And remember that it doesn't determine what kind of a nurse you will be at all. Good luck and I'll cross my fingers for you!!!
