Tomorrow is the big day. Been out of school for 15 years and this test is taking me down! I've been studying like a maniac about everything. My question is....what should I expect? Is it really that hard? Will I want to stab myself in the eye at the end of the exam? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone out their done the exam recently? Fingers crossed.
I haven't had any feed back from anyone doing the hoae but I have all my answers now! I just endured one of the most stressful tests avaliable to mankind! No I not joking. For some of you who have written the exam and found it easy I give you all a big thumbs up. I studied my brains out....stayed up late, stressed, cried and even found myself in a fetal position a few times. I searched and read every possible post...question and answer on " how hard is the hoae exam?" "What should I expect when writing the hoae" etc etc I hope you get my drift. Let me give you a little background on me. I'm 34, high school and college graduate and I have done upgrading to bring up my chem, math and bio marks. I studied everything from inventors of vaccines, atoms, cells, spelling, read countless pre-tests online and did free quizzes online to help me prepare for this god awful test and when I left the exam room today just before lunch I cried the whole way home! I just feel like a huge moron. Not because I felt that I wasn't prepared but because everything that I studied was in a weird way twisted in the questions that they make you answer. There is no need to know the exact spelling of words I haven't ever heard of before. Even though I have read many books, magazines, articles etc etc. There is no need to ask a mathematical question using terms that even mathematicians would consider unnecessary. "They" say that the test is not a pass or fail, but is it? I am applying to college to learn so why test me on things that are going to be part of the program I will be studying. It's like asking a pre- med student to preform an operation before they have even stepped foot in a classroom. Like I said, to those of you who have passed the hoae test with flying colours.....I give you a standing ovation. To those of you who are about to write the test...I'm not gonna sugar coat anything as I was looking for answers just like you are.....it's challenging to say the least. I wish I could remember even one of the exam questions but my brain is fried. So I will sit and wait and hope to god that I get accepted. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I wish all good luck wether you are just preparing to embark on a nursing career or to those of you who have received their acceptance. I will now return to my glass of wine and lick my wounds. Cheers!
