To those who wear white scrubs?

A friend of mine still in school got a job at a hospital that requires white scrubs. She likes the idea but I cannot understand why. Honestly, white scrubs would be my worst nightmare.

For one, they get dirty, fast and you can SEE that much easier then with other colors.

Second, some are made with cheap fabric and made that they are almost see through.

Third, I'm a female and white pants aren't my best friend during certain times. They've actually never been part of my regular wardrobe either.

I am glad she found a job and I would not decline a job just because their color requirements but I wouldn't be :) either.

Do you like it or are you required to wear white?

We have to wear white for nursing school, and we all hate it! You have to wear extra layers to cover up your bra and underwear. I had to buy all new bras and undies because I had no white! And, as you mentioned, during certain times it's a PITA!

I totally did this. Nice little bonfire in the backyard....along with my hunter green ones that I wore as a nursing assistant for 5 years. once I got my first nursing job and found out that I could wear whatever color I wanted..those were torched:-)

Our hospital requires white scrubs for all nurses, except those in surgery, labor/del, and peds. It is the worst color for nurses, which is why I'm glad I'm in one of the exempt groups. They get so dingy after a while and it just looks bad. And you can totally tell who smokes and who doesn't. Definitely not a reason to turn down a job though, but I wish a different color was associated with nursing.
