To those of of us accepted, How many are considering to take a stipend? If you have decided not to, why?
I am considering to accept a stipend with the anesthesia group where I currently work. My reasons: less money I will have to take out in loans and you have a job lined up.

hey japaho..
i too have thought about this.. after talking with some current students, some have and some have not stipend(ed)?. my only concern would be taking a job offer before one even knows if that practice or area is something that will be liked after school and throughout the time requirement. my guess would be there will not be any problem getting a job after school.. some offers even offer a sign-on bonus, which would actually be similar to a stipend. and by then, you may want a different direction..
just my thoughts -
From what I gather some places let you specialize in what type of cases you most enjoy doing (Duke says this in their site) others you get to do whatever comes your way. The way I view a sign on bonus is that alot of times it is simply need dependent, so in two years you may or may not have that offer. The second thought is how long will the contract be for? I am not sure what the answer is. I am still investigating whether to take the stipend or not.
