I will be taking the NCLEX-PN in May...it will also be my second time. I've been doing all the 4th edition Saunder questions on the CD & all the questions from the 3rd Edition Exam Cram book & CD. Is there anything else I should look over? Or any study strategies? Tips? I really hope I pass this second time around...my 7th Month old son is my motivation. :.)

Hi,
I took my NCLEX-PN this past Friday.. I had 85 questions and took an hours to do the exam.. well a little less, but I just say an hour. I used the same stuff you did.. I did the Saunders CD test to see what my studying should be like based on my score. But, I am bad at studying and always find something better to do.. So, over 4 days prior to the exam, I did 205 question from the NCLEX 3000 cd, per group, and there are 5 groups, and 60 question per test out of the Cram Exam 3rd edition.
I did not read the Saunders book much, only to get lab values and brush up on isolations and medication.
The one thing I can say is, no matter how much you study.. none of the 1,500 questions I did showed up on the NCLEX..not 1.. but, looking at the reason the answer is correct did help..
I would say the most important stuff to know is LAB VALUES!! Know Hemo, Chemistry Labs, ect.. and know your drug groups and side effects, adverse effects, and toxic s/s.
Yes, you must have a solid basis on the med surg stuff, like know your s/s of most popular issues/diseases and how to treat them and diet restrictions.
I got a ton of SATA( select all that apply), some isolation, many meds...but not just asking what a med was for...more like they had an snap shot of a pt. chart with labs, meds given, admitting dx and you had to pick the med that should be questions/held based on the pt. record.
Best of luck to you!!! I know you can do it.. I graduated in December.. did not study again until 4 days before. I think school gives you a solid understand of what is needed to pass the NCLEX and the stuff you are using helped me.
P.S. I live in CA.. I don't have quick results, but I did the "trick" and got the "good pop up".

First off, CONGRATS!!! So happy for you...for sure you passed if you got the good pop up . Thank you so much for sharing all your info. Yes, doing the questions are very helpful and get me more confident on how to answer the questions. I've been trying to memorize every Lab Value too so I think I got it. I need to study more on Pharma tho. I will let you know how I did on the exam when I take it next month. I can say I'm much more prepared than the first time. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it! Congrats again!!
Well thanks so much..as you know, nursing is a hard road. I am sure you will pass.. keep the studying up, but don't burn yourself out!! Take a break, rest, relax and just go at a steady pace. I can't wait to check back and see that you too got the "good pop up"!
Best of luck!!

Hi all!! I am scheduled to take my NCLEX-PN in nine day andI am terrifiyed that I am not prepared. I purchased the Saunders review book as well as Exam Cram 3rd edition and have done all of the review questions. A few of my classmates have already taken the exam and told me that nothing studied prepared them for the NCLEX.....now I am super nervous about failing it. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should study these last remaining nine day to help prepare me?

I took the nclex on August 25. I also used Saunders cd and exam crame cd (bought 8 days before test). I was nervouse and stress too, but my ATT expired August 25 too so I had no choice but too take test. I did pvt today had isuess loging in yesterday and I got pv pop-up. Don't stress I think you have good study material n you'll see you will pass
The day before the test I was planning to practice exam cram questions but decided not too because I figured if I took an assessment an not hit 85 I would probably freak out. So I relaxed and got a massage around 9pm to help me sleep(I've had problems with sleep during the whoe review due too test anxiety). I recomend massage I had no problems sleeping woke up early next day and ready for test.
