The major difference betw. the 2 is that med micro concentrates on bacteria that are encountered in medical settings that cause disease, while regular micro gives you a broad study of all bacteria.
You should call Molloy to find out which they would prefer, but I have a feeling that most nursing programs want the med micro. March 6th there's going to be a transfer night from 5 to 8 at NCC in the CCB multipurpose room where a lot of the 4yr schools will have advisors to answer your questions. If I remember correctly Molloy will be there as well as Farmingdale and Stonybrook among others.
I took Microbiology and it was transferrable too many schools. Most schools want Microbiolgy--they hardly request medical micro. Best bet is too call the school.
Definitely check with the school (and all schools that you intend to apply to) because mine did NOT accept regular micro.
Also, just a heads up- i was originally registered for the regular Microbiology class at Nassau and got a letter the week before it started saying that ALL pre-requisites for that class (a whole bunch of BIO courses- NOT A&P) needed to be taken or i would be de-registered from the course. That was actually a blessing in disguise b/c when i spoke w/ F'gdale about the micro, they said they only accepted Medical Micro.
just something to keep in mind....

At Nassau Community College, which class is tougher or what's the difference: Medical Microbiology or Microbiology? A professor actually said that medical micro was probably alittle easier (not sure why), but I'm wondering if there's a major difference between the two. I'm taking microbiogy because I plan to transfer the credits to a 4 yr program (hopefully Molloy in the fall). Please tell me what your experience is for those who took the class at NCC.
