HELLO EVERYONE!!!
I was getting familiar in this forum (I posted a couple of responses in the PBISON thread several minutes ago.)
But I was wondering are there any aspiring nursing applicants out there in NYC wo would applying next year to any programs? ANyone attending NYC city tech, BMCC, Laguardia (it doesn't even matter as long as you're in NYC, (smile) Would like to have an application buddy or buddies. I figured maybe I can get to know some folks now and as we we get closer to the deadlines, we will dive into the process together.
Feel free to respond here or send me any messages, and we can swap email addresses or something.
GOOD LUCK TO ANY APPLICANTS!!!:typing

Hi CarmelP! I am actually taking most of my Prereqs at City Tech. So far I have registered for Biology 1101 (prereq for A&P) for the June Summer session and Stats for the Fall. I plan on taking A&P I in the winter, then A&P II, Microbiology, Nutrition and so forth. Hope to apply for 2010. I am a second degree student- worked in financial marketing for ten yrs. This is just the beginning but I am so stressed about application process and letters of recommendations. So far I plan on applying to quite a few schools in the NY/NJ area. Feel free to msg me if you want to discuss anything in particular!

Hi, I applied to CUNY BMCC a couple years ago and didn't get in. I now applied to BI and LICH. I'll see what happens. I want to be a nurse so bad and know it's my calling. My mom was a nurse manager, did mid-wifery in England, and was an international traveling nurse in her youth. She is such an inspiration to me and I know given the oppurtunity, I too will make a great nurse. What makes it worse is that I work at a hospital with all the medical students, interns and residents. Everyone thinks I'm overreacting to be stressed out about getting in to nursing school. What they don't realized is that it is harder to get into nursing school than med school. I need for this to work out for me. It is simple not good enough to just have a job, you (meaning me) must have a career. Especially one that seems to be recessin proof. God bless all the applicants that truelly want this and have a love of people(the patients) in mind. Somehow schools have been more caught up with scores rather than humanity.

I agree with what you saying.
first of all getting into BMCC nursing program is close to impossible ( I am former pre-clinical student there) and second of all people that I talked to about entering the nursing programs in any school are under the same impression that I am taking it to serious and I stress myself too much since " is just nursing not rocket science" I feel so frustrated , since they have no clue how hard it is to "get in" and they have such distorted image about the nursing career.:angryfire
Unfortunately, scores are very helpful tools considering the huge amount of applicants and the extremely limited seats
