hey all!
i am a tn lpn and am moving into the boonies in east tn (last exit in tn before nc). i have a multi-state license here that will cover me for nc. it seems the closest hospital is haywood, nc and if anyone knows what else is in the area and what they are like, i would love the input! also, i am guessing the pay rates are comparable to tn. help y'all!

I work @ Haywood Regional. If you are willing to travel 25 miles East you can work at Mission Hospitals (there are 2 right across the street from each other. 35 miles east of Haywood is Park Ridge And In Sylva which is 25 miles west there is Harris Regional. Swain has a hospital about 10 miles beyond sylva. Angel medical is located in Franklin NC. Personally, I love Haywood Regional Medical. We are a small hospital but we are working on building a new large Surgery Center. This small town atmosphere creates a friendly work environment. If you work here you get a free gym membership (the gym is located on the campus and is one of the best & largest I have ever seen) Our OR has the best and friendliest surgeons but if you are looking for big town experience and maybe a couple extra$ go to Mission which is located in Asheville, NC. Either way WNC is beautiful and a safe place to raise your family and since Asheville is so close you aren't too far away from shopping, entertainment, civilization, etc....

I also work at HRMC ( Haywood)
It is a nice Hospital I have worked at the one in Sylva and at Mission in Asheville. Long drives either way as life gets old living on the road. If you like the small hospital feel, go for Sylva or HRMC. If you like the big hospital.Go to Mission. I will say HRMC is going through a tuff time right now as they build a new 3 story addition which will make the Surgery Center a very nice place. Unfortunately, the purse strings are tight and a financial "reorganization" have made moral decrease and a lot of middle management leave. Just read the papers.
hey i was looking at haywood online and applied there. are there 8 hr shifts? i did not see any on the website. my knee injury has limited me to 8hrs, and that has made my opportunities very scant. i really like the small town feel, and want to stay that way. do any of the other area hospitals or surgical centers have 8 hr shifts for lpns? i am anxious to start!
thank you, tall blondie and waynesville! i am much closer to haywood than i thought, (36 miles) and will definitely look into it. harris may be a possibility too, depending on the availability of positions. how are the er's in these facilities?
