TMCC/WNC Hopeful?

U.S.A. Nevada

Anyone else waiting to hear from TMCC or WNC for Fall 2011 admissions? I have applied to both schools and am not so patiently waiting for a letter from WNC. WNC letter should come in 2 weeks and TMCC in 2 months!!

I applied to CA schools, but Sierra is a lottery system. They take the minimum requirement and randomize! I got denied back in May. Sac State is now based on Merrit, but you have to score in the high 90's on the TEAS to be competitive. The TEAS V is much harder than the HESI. It's crazy how difficult this is.

ARC is still lottery also, but is looking into merit based, and Sac city is also accepting for the spring, I don't think I'd have a great chance to get in based on their applicant pools, but I guess it would be the same as any other first time applicants. It really would be a LOT easier just to get into TMCC, I hope :). I agree about the Teas V test, it was super tough. I took it before I took the HESI, fortunately I did well enough that if accepted down there I could just use that score. I think the stress involved with just getting into the program prepares one for the stresses in the program, sheesh.

GPA IS NOT CUMULATIVE.

The grading criteria for entry into the nursing program is as follows:

All of the classes required to get an ADN are the ONLY classes taken into consideration for GPA, this includes English courses, math courses, etc etc. If you look at the "courses required" with the list of pre-reqs, this is THE AUTHORITY on the matter, and I have personally verified this with Science department staff.

A total of 285 applicants at TMCC.

When I went into the nursing advisement, not orientation, the lady told us that it was our GPA for all course work completed. It also says that on the nursing site. Of course our science GPA's are being considered, I wouldn't look to the bio department for your exclusive advisement. Kinda hostile.

It is actually only courses for the program per -----. I just asked her yesterday.

I was told that it was only the classes for the degree that were counted in the GPA, but it seems we all get conflicting information. I guess we will all find out mid-July! I was told that there were not that many applicants, but maybe that meant qualified applicants? Whatever the case may be.. good luck!

They are giving out a lot of conflicting information then. I went to a nursing specific advisement with about six people and they went through each of our what if reports and told us about upcoming changes in the program and told us overall GPA. I am super excited if its just our program GPA, that just bumped me up a lot! I wish they would get the information together within the department, I've heard so many different things! Yes, July shall be the final word!

I realize I was a bit aggressive with my wording, but I've heard so many rumors about the program that I can't help but be pessimistic about people's motives. I realize that everyone on this board means well and obviously we've all worked our tails off to get where we are at, I just don't like hearing all of the crap that has been going around. I wish all of you the best of luck, and really hope that in a few months we are all classmates!!!

Hope you're well Mrs. Bristow, and that married life is wonderful :0)

I just got my acceptance letter from WNC! I am so excited! :yeah:

Lauraa,

I am so HAPPY for you!! Sounds like you are going to get into TMCC too!! Enjoy the rest of your summer, you deserve it :)

That is great news! Do they give you time to decide, so you can make sure you have TMCC? Congratulations!
