I didn't like the facitlity at all.
I used to work there and I don't now. However, to be fair, I worked there as a tech, and not a nurse. I did 1 year of my clinicals there (Peds, psych, OB, L&D, and med-surge) I worked in L&D and ED as a tech. I have not done clinicals or worked in thier critical care units.
I hear their pay is awful! But that was last year when I was new, and you know how much pay can change in a year. I think it was under $22/hr. Eek!
Oh, but I did like the OR. I like the set-up, I liked the pre-op area where everybody got their central lines placed. It was a fun time. However, the nurses in the OR were SUPER mean to us students. I bet that wears off after they get to know you though. At least I hope so.
Sorry, TMC does not have the best reputation in town.
Any way you could look into UMC?
I went to the TMC recruitment day, they splash out lots of money...treated all of us to a night at the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch...very nice. They had a "Meet the Managers" reception prior to that. I was looking into going into the ER. The ER rep was ..to put it nicely ...not very impressive. However, just for a look, I was taken on the OR tour by the OR manager. I really liked her, she gave me a great tour and almost had me....If you are interested, definitely have them take you around. When I get burned out at the ER I work at, I just might give it a try..

I just wanted to post this for you. UMC offers fellowships, one being in OR. Here is the link. http://www.azumc.com/UMC/body.cfm?id=182

Does anyone know if TMC takes new grads in the OR? I am hoping to relocate to Arizona and want to specialize in OR.
Thank you!
