Ok...I've searched the boards and can't find an answer to my question...so I'm posting to all of you hoping for some clarification
I just rcvd my lab reports back from my titers and found out I have to get the Varicella Immunization...no problem...done! I am also in the process of getting my Hep B Series (second shot coming on April 3rd)...no problem...
My question though is that the paperwork states that if any of the results are negative we will be required to have the injections for varicella and/or rubella and 3 injections for hep b and then repeat the titers
sooooooo.....are we allowed to have these series in process while entering the program since the hep b takes so long? Or do I need to have another set of titers done just to prove the variecella immunity and then another for the hep b? So confused...thanks!

You should ask your program coodinators.
I am not in your school so I don't know their rules but I had the same problem/no immunity to chickenpox even though I've had chicken pox itself. No immunity for MMR either and I had to repeat that as well.
My stuff had to all be in by Feb and my 2nd varicella shot was due after my cut off date. My program is allowing me to enter in April because I have shown proof that I am being re-immunized, we also had a waiver form on the Hep B. People can decline that one at their risk at my school.
My Hep B series was done some years ago and it was the only titer that came back showing immunity.

My insurance is dumb and I have to meet a $300 deductible before they start coverage so therefore I had to pay out of pocket for my titers to be done. That being said, they charged a flat $76 office fee and they forgot to do my Hep. B titer...I have had hep b shots before, I have my shot records to prove it so it was either not do the titer and sign the declination form or pay another $76 to get it done...I opted for the first...I know I am okay sooo I just signed the declination form and turned in my papers today...
But I think you can be in process when you start...call and make sure though! =)

Ouch and they wonder why some people don't bother with insurance from the get go. $300 is absurd!!

You just need to show them that everything is in process.... I would sign off on the Hep B declination though to make that part a little easier. You can go ahead with the vaccine series, but paper work wise, the nursing office won't need anything else from you if you sign the waiver. Thats what I did.

I had the same problem with hep b. I called and admin said to sign the declination paper for hep b and just continue the series.
well now my question is...I have signed the form declining hep b...and rcvd my first immunization shot for varicella...however I can't get my second one until April 21st....and then I have to have a positive titer lab report by May 5th?? Will it even be through my system in enough time to rcv a positive result and get my labs back by then?
I thought I was doing so well with getting everything finished early...and now this....it's just a bummer
...and I really hope it's not a big deal with the school...
I can't seem to get an answer from anybody there...and I know it's what I have to look forward to:uhoh21:
Have you had your orientation yet? They will spend some time making sure they have everyones paperwork in and answering questions from people, like yourself, who are in the process of having their vaccines and titers done. As long as you are in the process of getting everything completed it will be ok. They understand the process.... just don't procrastinate :)
Nope..orientation is April 8th....I'm thinking it will be fine. I just thought I had everything taken care of.
Oh well...I'm in and that's the important part!
