Tips for passing CNA test

Published

I take my American Red Cross test for CNA in 3 days and I'm freaking out!!! I'm most worried about the skills part, not so much about the written part. Can anyone share how their tests were like as far as how long you had to do each skill, difficulty, how strict they test you, etc. My instructor said that even the tiniest mistakes will automatically fail you. I REALLY do not want to have to re-take it and let $90 go to waste. So any advice would be greatly appreciated!

When i took my CNA course the questions weren't that bad(mostly common sense). I'm not allowed to go into specific questions(your proctor will tell you that at the start of the exam)

I was lucky on my skills because my proctor was nice. If you had forgotten a step in a skill as long as you went back and told her you'd forgotten to do such and such, she counted it just like you had done it. She said she knew people were nervous and the main point of the test was that you knew the material. Hopefully you'll get a proctor like mine!

Brush up on vitals, postmortum care, and nutrition (most people neglect these things and you'll probably see them on the written teat).

Relax and good luck!!

When you practice, say each step out loud as you do it.

Then do the same while actually taking the test!

Take a deep breath and collect yourself before you start.
