Timeline for licensure by exam

For those who recently graduated, I am curious as to the timeline it took from when your school sent notification to the state board, until it showed online, and then until you received your ATT to take the NCLEX. Also how long did it take for your background check to be completed. Will the website update information when it is completed because mine only says that it was received and sent off to the SBI?

Also if anyone was an out of state graduate but applied for license by exam in NC please let me know your experiences. I am a graduated of ASU (Arizona) and am just waiting for them to process my transcripts which I know were delievered (thank you tracking #) on Wed. Just demotivating seeing a bunch of my class mates getting their ATTs yesterday and just wondering how much longer it might be for me.

Thanks in advance!

I graduated May 12th and got my ATT on the 25th. I sent all my background stuff in before graduation and it was done prior to my graduation. It all updated on the website as it was completed.

airborneinf82 - I graduated from an out-of-state nursing program on July 21 and I had everything sent in prior to graduation except for my transcripts and ID document, which were sent early August. My account still says these items werent received. Nearly all of my classmates have gotten their # at this point (and alot even took it already), so I completely understand how you feel demotivated right now haha. I have made several attempts to get in touch with anyone in the NCBON office regarding this delay, but have just left alot of voicemails. Have you been able to talk to anyone directly?

So when it is complete it will say online that the background check was complete? How long did it take do you know? My stuff shows received and then also sent to the SBI(?) on the 5th of July.

So you have been leaving them voicemails and not hearing back from them?? What extension are you leaving the messages at? I left a message on Friday and they said 3-day wait for a call back. I tried emailing but it kicks my email back saying it is not a valid email. Are you in NC now? I will be leaving this weekend to move out there and if I don't hear from someone and things don't get rolling on this soon I will just drive there. I can't believe it has taken that long for you and that they haven't called you back at all. That is completely ridiculous!

Yes, it showed it was complete as each of of the items was complete. I don't remember exactly how long it took but it wasn't more than about a month or so.

So I actually was able to speak to two different people today. One about the criminal background check and one about the transcripts and whatnot. For the transcripts, she sad it takes about 10 days for them to review the transcripts and to have it post online and showing received so you might want to call down there and make sure they got everything and there are no issues. I honestly called every hour all day until just now when I got through so that is my suggestion. When you call extension 270 is the lady you will want to talk to about that. 239 is also listed for transcripts but I have yet to get anyone at that extension. Hope this helps.

It seems you have the info you need but here is the timeline for my licensure by exam:

I graduated on June 10th from the University of Washington, they received my transcript on July 8 (it took UW forever to post my degree on my transcript), and I got my ATT on July 12.

I was able to schedule the NCLEX for July 22, my license showed up on the NCBON website on July 29, and I got my paper certificate/license in the mail on August 17.

Good luck!

Thank you for letting me know your timeline. My transcripts finally popped up as received yesterday so just waiting for my ATT from PearsonVUE. Hopefully not too much longer.
