I was hoping to get some advice on how you manage your time when you have to balance work, school, family, etc. Here is a little background for you about my specific situation.
I am working full-time and also attempting to get into nursing school in January. I am starting to worry about taking 16 credits and working full-time which I know is a little insane. However, I don't get these four classes done this fall, I have to wait an entire year to reapply so I would rather have one tough semester rather than streching this out a full year.
The bottom line is I am probably giving myself about all or a little more than I can handle or have had to juggle before and I'm exactly sure how to keep on top of it all.
Any advice?

Well I Work Two Jobs, 40/wk At One And 16/wk At The Other And Take Two Classes A Semester. I've Got Really Good At Doing Two Things At One Time. My Second Job Is Midnights So When We're Slow I Do Homework. I Also Snuck In Time At My First Job To Get Something Done Last Minute. You'll Figure It Out.

You brave brave women. I have three kids (divorced mom), and I get very little physical support from their dad. I usually take 12 credit hours and I barely get it all done. I drop them off at school and go to school myself. I leave school and start doing to rounds to pick them up. When we get home I help with homework, make dinner, clean up, and get everyone bathed and in bed. Usually by the time I start to study it's 10 pm. I study until 2am and then sleep for 4 hours before I start again.
This semester will be easier because I am taking most of my classes online.
Work full time...how do you do it????

Hey, thanks for the advice. One small problem though, I am a dude not a woman. But, aside from that it is good to see people who have very busy lives being able to handle it all and getting to where they want to go. Honestly, after hearing what your schedule is like, and talking to people who raise kids and go to night school, it makes mine seem pretty easy and also I am only doing this for a semester.
Thanks!
Sorry (lol). You very brave, brave man !!!! I don't care what sex you are its still difficult.
Thanks peach! Where are you at in your nursing program?
I am not in a nursing program yet. I have finished all my prereqs, and I am applying to the program at Brookhaven in Dallas in Aug. How about you?
Working on my last semester of pre-reqs and applying to school for the January 2008 start at Lansing Community College (ADN program) here in Michigan. What is the economy like down in Dallas? One of my good friends just moved to Fort-Worth about 2 weeks ago. Michigan's economy sucks right now (but there is still a giant demand for nursing jobs) so I am looking to relocate once I am done with school.

I work full-time and had classes Monday - Thursday nights last semester. It's not that bad. I did homework during my lunch break, ate dinner at school and studied a bit while eating. I also studied and did homework on weekends. The semester FLIES by and is over before you know it.
Now that school is out I find myself wondering what to do with my time.
You can do it -- you just have to be dedicated and disciplined.
Good Luck!
I think the economy is pretty good here. We are having a problem with min wage jobs. Teenagers here are having a hard time finding entry level part time work, and the jobs are being filled by adult immigrants.

I am a stay at home mom and planning on starting NE courses next summer. I am taking ten credits this fall. My hubby works A LOT and we have two babies to raise. Even though I don't leave my house I DO WORK! LOL! It gets crazy here sometimes. But, I know I can do it. Most people that go through the nursing program seem to be in the same boats; kids, full time jobs, (plus p/t jobs) etc... They all have done it. I got some great tips on finding study time from a thread I posted about "moms going back to school"---I apologize it should have said "moms and 'dudes' going back to school, lol. Anywho, you could look off that to get some extra study time ideas. There were some really great ones on there. Good luck.
