U.S.A. Virginia

Published

i just wanted to start a thread so that we can let each other know when we start getting acceptance letters. this is a very s...l...o...w...time waiting through june, possibly july to find out how to schedule the rest of the year!

Okay ladies, just got off the phone with a lady from the nursing department. She said that letters will be sent out regardless of whether you got in or not. She ALSO said that they are not done looking through applicants and not all letters have been sent out yet... Wow... Good news I guess? So confused bencause everytime I call it's something totally different.

That's great news!! I swear that I'm going to have an stress induced ulcer before this is all over, lol. Thanks for letting us know.

Ambular127, I can't even tell you how stressed I am so I can imagine how stressed everyone else is that hasn't received their letter yet. Ladies, If you don't mind me asking, what is your GPA and what were your grades in A&P1 & 2/Micro? My GPA is a 3.5 with Bs' in both BIO classes. I received an 89.2 in BIO141, and an 88 in BIO142. I wonder if they take into consideration your number grade as opposed to just looking at it as an A, B, or C.

AND I HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO CHECK OUT THIS ROUTE, but what have you all heard about the ODU, Hampton, & Norfolk State BSN programs?

I don't mind you asking at all. I have a B in both A&PI-II and an A in Eng 111. I'm currently taking Micro and should pull an A from that. I probably should have taken micro before applying to increase my points. I also have an AS degree from TCC already as well as a BS degree from ODU, but I don't think that prior degrees help in any way to getting in the program. I honestly don't know what my GPA is because I don't know if they would calculate both colleges together or separate.

All three of the programs at ODU, Hampton and Norfolk State are great programs since they are nationally accredited. That's one reason I chose TCC to apply to because it's also nationally accredited vs. regionally. The only thing with all three programs is that they are BSN degrees which would require a lot more prerequisites and a lot more time to complete. I wanted to go back to ODU for their program but I will be moving in the next 2 years due to the husband being in the military. I needed a quick degree and I can get my BSN later.

Good luck to you and I hope that we both find out soon that we were accepted!! :)

Im glad you were able to get through to someone and to hear that apparently we havent been reviewed yet from how it sounds. So confusing. I guess we wait more and without a timeline of waiting. Or did they say how long they expect?

I received A's in all the pre-req courses, not sure what my GPA is calculated out to be. I have 3 different transcripts.

I am looking into Norfolk State's accelerated BSN. They're evening and weekend program starts January with an application deadline of August. It's designed for students who already hold a bachelor's so pre-reqs arent too bad. If I don't get into TCC Im going to meet with a counselor there to discuss my options and figure out what I need. I have been on this nursing track for years now taking pre-reqs. Once I got all the pre-reqs done and was accepted into a program my husband joined the Navy and moved me. Im getting use to pre-reqs, but I am very anxious to start real courses!

Is anyone still waiting on an acceptance letter? I still haven't received anything so I'm just wondering if I'm the only one

No Ambular127, I am still waiting too. I havent heard one way or the other. It is so frustrating. I came across a thread from 2009 and there were people who didnt hear until April and even May.

I guess right now no news is good news. I just want to know one way or the other, the waiting and not knowing is horrible!

hi mcolliver,

the waiting is very draining and aggravating at the same time. i talked with someone in my micro class and she said that her friend, who is a first year student, said that the entire nursing program is being evaluated for continued accreditation. i guess the program gets evaluated after so many years but i'm not sure if this has anything to do with why we haven't received letters. i didn't get my application packet mailed until the very end of november so i guess they might also accept people who mailed their applications in early. if you don't mind me asking, when did you submit your packet?

Hmm.. Not sure if that would impact it,but it would cause them to be very very busy. Who knows. I mailed my application in September.

Yes, my friend told me that they have been very busy because of it. I guess I'm going to stop stressing over it, I will find out sometime this year, lol. Have you applied anywhere else? I've put my application in at Thomas Nelson as well as a back up plan. Well, good luck!!!!

I didn't apply anywhere else. I found out too late about Thomas Nelson and I really thought TCC was a sure thing. I am trying to avoid spending too much on school. I already have student loans from my first degree and am trying to avoid more. Right now it is looking like I might have to spend more than I want. I am looking into NSU Second degree/accelerated BSN.

got an email response back from dr ****. she said,

"if you applied for early admission and your gpa was less than 3.5, we will look at your application again in may."

i have to admit i am a bit annoyed.i guess this means we have to wait until the summer for a response either way. i am not holding my breath and will be applying to other schools.
