Have any of you ever heard of this? My son was diagnosed in May after I noticed a lump on his throat. The doctor was going to wait until he is older (he is 4) to perform surgery, but, it is getting bigger. He's with my husband in Bradenton FL and hubby says it looks like it's split in two and falling towards the right side of his throat. The last time I saw it, it looked bigger and slid more to the bottom of his throat...that a month ago. He is not having any trouble breathing or swallowing at this time, though.

I'm posting this in OR nursing too.

A friend of mine's daughter had the same thing. It looked a little frightening but was easily taken care of through surgery. It doesn't press on the trachea or esophagus, it pushes outward until you see it. In the case of the child I know, the doctor also wanted to wait until she got bigger. Unfortuneately, the cyst burst and then had to be taken care of. It was a simple, same day prcedure without any complications. This child was about 2 when she had the surgery. She's a thriving 5 y/o now and none the worse for wear!! :)

Thanks mmnurse. With everything else going on...it just kind of worried me.
