Nannie is up and dressed, and Chatty CG just arrived. I have started a laundry because Nannie made her bed, laid down on top of the bed and got all the sheets wet. ....except for the fitted sheet and mattress, which were covered with a large 'water-proof' half-sheet and a chux. She didn't go prowling through her new dresser drawers, but she did get up and put on what she had on yesterday....over the pj bottoms and drenched pads and pull-ups that she wore last night. And a 2nd pair of pants were only pulled up to her groin, plus she had put a second pair of socks over the ones she already had on! I reckon if she actually KNEW how it all looked, she'd be mortified, but she is beyond all that now. Mostly now it's about colors and her obsession with her shoes, which she thinks are new and she loves....and forgets she's had them for MONTHS now, and has to show them to us alllllll the time!
BiL came by and gave me my check to cover groceries for Nannie. I went to the pawn shop with all those watches SiL found in FiL's dresser....Not a single one of them was worth anything. Ooooh well! Found the watch I'd given FiL one Christmas; it had, instead of a sweep hand, a train going round and round the track, marking off the seconds. All of the dainty watches Nannie had, had such small faces, I don't know how you could read the time unless you squinted, and even then it was hard to see!
I stopped at a new sign on an old building....Flea Market and Beauty Supplies. Well, the flea market side of the building is only open on Friday and Saturday. The beauty shop had primarily products for black women, and there were at LEAST 200 wigs lining the walls all the way around....some of them QUITE interesting, but not my style. Besides which, can you imagine wearing a full, long wig on a 95 degree day like today? UGH!
When I was in Nursing School, I had a short wig to wear on days when I didn't feel like, or have time for, washing my hair. It very nicely blended with my bangs, and many people were shocked to think I'd cut my waist-length hair. I got lots of comments, like "Oh My God! You cut off all your hair??!" It was handy to have, but after nursing school I never wore it again. Those things are ITCHY, and I remember sticking a pencil through to my poor old covered-up scalp to scratch it! It was a blessing to take it off when I got back to my room in the dorm.
I moved the wicker shelving to the old bedroom and am now trying to decide what piece of furniture to shift around to that open space. Am undecided about moving my dresser. I asked BiL to, at some point, saw off two inches from the legs of the platform bed-frame. With the new mattress on it, I sit TOOOOO tall on the edge of the bed, and my legs dangle instead of touching the floor. And Momo has a harder time getting up on top of the bed, even with the footrest beside it. She's just little!
At the end of September I will have had her a full year. She still hasn't lost any weight that I can tell, so I don't know about her being able to be spayed. I don't feed her a lot; like the vet told me, just once a day. I give her one of those small Beneful (sp?) cans of dog food in the morning, and she gets a few dog snacks at night, named GOOD DOG, HAPPY PUPPY. I tear each of the 4 small squares into four pieces (she has a little mouth, too.) And I really don't think they are laden with calories/fat, but who knows. Bedtime snack-time is one of her favorite times of day, she dances and bounces all over the bed when she sees that little bag of treats! So I would hate to eliminate them. It is a joy to witness such JOY; she is soooo cute when she does that. She's kind of cat-like, in that she prefers the lamb + salmon flavor to any beef or chicken anything.
Two more hours until Chatty CG goes home. Not sure if I'll get into doing anything or not. If I would stop plinking around on the laptop, I might look around and decide on doing something else!
Ugh, Tweety, I hope yesterday didn't have too much drama or crisis, on top of short staffing!
I watched Ledecky swim the 1500 meters, WOW! I noticed she is not continuously doing a flutter kick, but rather (and I verified this online -- which, yanno, if it's on the internet, it's TRUE!!) she slows to a half-count kicking rhythm during the race, and speeds it up at the beginning and the end of the race. She must have some powerful shoulder and arm and back muscles!!
It was also exciting to see Leon Marchand win his two golds in one day, for France. AND to see Guatemala take home its first gold medal ever, in women's trap shooting! AND to see Hungary win a gold in 200m men's backstroke. Such excitement!
It is 103 degrees out -- likely to remain in triple digits for one more week, before we get a break, into the 90's. At least the humidity is low, at 22%. I just returned from a run to the grocery store, to stock up on some fresh supplies so I can make another soup to have in the evenings. AND we needed more popsicles 😉 . Oh, and I am reminded why I don't make a lot of soups with cheese in them. The bowls are notoriously difficult to clean afterwards! We use that new Dawn spray, which is supposed to be great for cutting grease, and it does work pretty well, but the cheese residue on the bowls/pot is tenacious! Yah, I know: First World Problems!
We will likely practice a little tonight, and head out to Oak Glen tomorrow around 1pm. We don't play till 2pm, but we need to schlepp the instruments to the performing area, get tuned up, etc. Note to self: Bring Water!
Ado, hope the meetings are going well.
Have a good evening!

Stars glad they're getting rid of all that stuff
Dianah hope the pain eases
Hi Tweety
NJ22 glad that the outlook for her is good, even if she's resisting quitting smoking
Was a pretty good day yesterday. Some stress and chaos at work, but only briefly, most of the work day was fairly quiet
After work went out to dinner with the over 50 group. The drive down was a bit long due to traffic, but a lot easier coming back
Tonight nothing in particular going on, the only day of the week like that. Will do some cleaning and will likely exercise too
Will be in the low 80s with rain and storms likely
