I have thought about traveling, but I'm a little nervous! I have only been a RN for a little over 6 years. I have only worked at 2 different facilities......I have so many questions and I don't know who to turn too!! Has anyone ever traveled.....good agencies to go through....ones to avoid?? We have a few travelers at my current hospital and they both have worked with several different recruiters....Who can you trust??

HELP!!!!

Lot's of information already on this site. Remember your personal choices are yours alone. People can always say "you should have done it this way", but you didn't, couldn't or wouldn't. I have traveled since 1989, first in the ER and currently in the OR. Will only stop when I can no longer do a good job for my employer. (Or the government makes me stop) TAXES.

i love traveling. it is so great to see different places and meet new people. the first 2 weeks are the hardest trying to adjust. my advice is to speak with different companies and go with whatever one you are comfortable with. i have been working with the same company for a couple years, with all the moving from hospital to hospital it is nice to have the consistency of one company.

I am nearly seven weeks into my first travel assignment and I LOVE IT! My nursing experience was limited to ortho and uro, but I wanted to expand my horizons. So, I took a medical/surgical float travel position and it's been a great experience so far. The key is to be confident in the core nursing roles and responsibilities. No one is expecting you to master the logistical stuff (i.e. who to call for what, etc.). Moving forward, I am going to try to find positions where they use the electronic charting system I am most familiar with OR guarantee me two days of orientation (which my current facility provided). Good luck!
