Specializes in FNP.

The job is an NP for a health clinic in a metro area not on the east or west coast, offering treatment of acute and chronic pain conditions, sports injuries, etc. The NP is responsible for performing physical evaluations, ordering rehab therapy and diagnostic tests, medications, x-rays, sports physicals, pain injections, botox injections, and education of patients.

Offer:

Salary: 2-year contract position for $100,000/year, based on 40 hrs/week.

PTO: 10 days (80 hours)

Holidays: 6 days paid

401k: no 401k offered, so how am I supposed to save for retirement?

Health insurance: company pays a portion, employee pays a portion, but no Dental insurance

No Life insurance or disability insurance offered.

CME: $500/year + 2 days of PTO to attend, company will also pay for pre-approved CME that is scheduled outside of clinic hours, but no additional compensation for that time spent.

malpractice insurance: paid by company

DEA: paid by company

Where do I start in negotiations? The PTO, 401k, CME, all seem really low. I currently make $51/hr in retail, but work ~32 hrs/week. I have almost 2 years NP experience as well as 5 years RN experience prior to that. What should I counter with?

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

I'd counter with whatever number you want to make to leave your present position. As for the 401k and how are you supposed to save for retirement; you save for retirement by saving there are many vehicles you can use although it is unfortunate they don't offer a match. Good luck.
