Did you go back over the tapes again and again? Or did you take notes the first time and didn't revisit? If you used Sanders or something else in conjunction, in what order or fashion did you do it?

I have been listening to the videos online. I just want ideas regarding how others have been doing it. I can always learn a thing or two.

I am taking the online Hurst review. I am still in my preceporship at school, graduating next month. I go through 1-2 lessons a day and then I plan on just getting through all of them and taking the mock test. Once I do that and see how I did, I plan on studying off the notes and re-watching video clips on the subjects that I am the weakest on. I also have a Saunder's and Mosby's cd that I plan on using to study off of as well. My goal is to answer about 4000-5000 questions before I take the NCLEX. I think once I graduate next month, I am able to hit the ground studying and put more hours a day into it. Right now, I like listening to Marlene's review. She's really fun to watch. But I do plan on going over weak areas on the video again next month.

I'm taking the Hurst online. I finished the videos in 2 wks. I haven't watched any video twice. At the end Marlene gives tips on how to study for the NCLEX and she says to go over the outlines...over and over until you can explain everything on each outline without look at the paper. I have been working on that. I will probably watch a few video's again before I take the NCLEX.

I have been doing questions from Saunders. I also have access to Medpublishing through my school and do questions from there too. I bought the book NCLEX 101 and in the beginning it has a pretest that you take and it identifies your weakness and strengths. Then it has sections divided up to help your improve on your weakness. That book was recommended by Marlene. It was worth the money.

Her review helped me tremendously! Good luck and let me know if you need any more help!

Good luck!

Well, just listenng to her over and over again doesn't do the best for you. As Marlene is telling you at the end of the course, you want to try to explain on your own words about each material. For example, explain CHF to yourself. Marlene says that you should focus what is going on the heart, the kidneys, and fluid balance. How about cardiac output? When you take the course, you fill out the note Marlene gives you on the line. Then, you try to read it again and again. Focus what the important issue there. I did this way of studying in the past month. It's working great for me. I also put a post regarding extra material from Hurst review. It includes about delegation, priotization, and stuff. It is GREAT! I also used Saunders for questions. However, there are so much information and you really don't want to memoriza all the stuff. Marlene says you want to memorize growth and development, cranial nerves, and lab values. Lab values are quite different from the ones in my hospital. So, I wrote them down so many times. Now, it's in my head. Questions from Saunders gave me very detailed questions and I tried to check it out from the content review from Saunders. I am writing NCLEX on next Tuesday, so I will go through Marlene's note one more time. I will let you know how this way works! Good luck on your study! I am very sure you enjoy the course! :chuckle
