I am a new grad and of course don't have any experience. I know a few people on here have posted before about being in HR or in a position in which they interview candidates for a position, and I was wondering if you could please give me some insight(im begging!!!!) so here's a few questions I have but please feel welcome to reply with any tips of information. I have had one interveiw in my entire life- its was about 3 weeks ago.(every other position I have ever had was done by getting a job through someone i know or a family friend) I was so nervous- because I didnt know what to expect or what to ask. The woman who interveiwed me did such a great job explaing about her facility, that there honestly was no questions I could ask, she was very thorough! I did seem interested and made comments throughout her speaking to me. I was then brought on a tour and interveiwed by a charge nurse on another floor. When I came back to the original person interveiwing me, she had asked if I had anymore questions, i said no I felt she did a very good job explaining everything- she had asked if my references were availabe to be contacted that day, I said yes. SHe said ok well let me check your references out and youll be allset- I fet like I had had the job! The other person I had interveiwed with said she liked me and it was just a matter of convincing the head interveiwer(the director). I sent a handwritten thankyou card on the 2nd day after my interveiw. I called a week later, she said they were still reveiwing information adn hadnt made a decison yet. About a week later I had sent an email stating I was wondering what the status of my application was(because i knwo she hasnt called my references yet) and if it was possibe for her to contact me via email or by phone and let me know a date she is expecting to make her decision or if she has already( and i am not it i would just rather no! so i am not bothering her and having my head up in the clouds). She never emailed me back. SO I called on Friday, later on in the day (that was 4 or 5 days ago) and left an email sayi thank you for interveiwing me, I was still very interested in the position and was wonderin gif she could return my call as to when and if a decision has been made. So in total its been just over 3 weeks. Still havent heard back from this person and I am not sure if i should call back, and if I should I dont knwo what to say, as I have sent her an email and left a voicemail with her sayin gbasically the same thing.
So do you think I have held onto hope for too long? I am looking in the mean time but i am really interested in this position, I love the facility and the enviroment and the people- I feel i would get a lot out of this position- and would put everything I had into it. What tips do you have for interveiwing as a new grad- what to say and what not to. What should be on your resume and what shouldnt- why do you get rid of soem applications adn not others? Why is it that you tell soemone you are going to contact their references and then dont? I felt she had really liked me and now I hear nothin back. I am getting very frustrated and would appreciate some insight!

I don't work in HR but I can tell you from a management perspective that it TAKES FOREVER to get someone hired. Indeed they may well be interviewing other people. It would be nice if they would at least call you back however.
