I sat for the NCLEX July 2nd with two of my girlfriends. I took the exam, it shut off at 75 questions and it only took me about 30 minutes to answer all the questions. (I am a notoriously fast test taker... this is not uncommon for me and I graduated Cum Laude with a BSN).
Fast-forward to Saturday morning...I am anxiously checking and re-checking Quick Results...the other 2 girls have gotten their (good) results, and I'm still waiting. So I try the PearsonVue "trick" and it tells me that my results are on hold. *sigh*
Monday morning I call the BON who tells me that yes my results are on hold and I need to call PearsonVue. PearsonVue tells me the same thing and that I need to call NCSBN. NCSBN tells me that my results are on hold because "You took it in such an extraordinarly fast amount of time and we need to review your exam."
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I scoured all three websites and found nothing that said they could do that...
Regardless: I PASSED!!!!
But had I known I was going to be put through all that b/c I am a fast reader, I would have forced myself to sit there for a minute before clicking the "next" button!

I am the same way with tests. Almost always the first one done. I don't ever second guess my answers, I figure either I know it or I don't. Also, I am a very fast reader, can finish a question and be on to the next three before my co-workers finish one question. (When we do the on-line things together)
Congrats on passing, BTW!

Yes, it is surprising. Like every class, mine had some fast test-takers, but I didn't hear of them having the experience you did.
But, it's not hard to see why a yellow flag could be raised by your quick work.
The main thing is this: Congrats on being an official RN.

Wow! Congrats!!! Can't believe they thought you were cheating or something. Do they have cameras to check... what more did they have to review? Some people are just fast readers and quick test takers. I can't wait until I am able to post up stories like yours.

Not quite as serious, but when I was 16, I aced the driver's ed written exam. It was easy, I'd read the book, and had 9 weeks of driver's ed in high school. The guy glared at me, looked around to see who I'd been copying from (wasn't near anybody), and I did it way too fast. I just smiled at him, and he was forced to "let" me pass.
But, at least the NCLEX is paying attention to things! Wouldn't have occured to me that time taken to test would have flagged your results, you must really fly!
Congrats and welcome to the ranks!

I took mine in 30 minutes as well, with 75 questions (I'm also a fast test-taker) and had no trouble getting my passing result in 2 days. Odd!
BTW, I was sure that I had failed and left the testing center in tears, because I didn't feel like I knew one single answer on that whole test. I pulled out my hair for those two days and would have probably gone insane if I'd had to wait any longer than that! I feel for you!

1st of all, congrats on passing the NCLEX!!
I was always a fast test taker. I felt funny about it so I used to sit for a while after I finished until another student would get up so I wasn't the first to stand up. I was one of the last classes to take our test the old way, two day affair on paper. I really wasn't the first finished, there were some really fast test takers there.
I don't know what I would do if I had to take the computer test. I would be afraid to dally around when one doesn't know how many questions one will have. I used to take a little extra time to review my questions, only to the extent of making sure I had answered them, I never changed answers because I generally made good grades going with my first impression.

Never heard of that! I took mine 2 years ago and passed in 17 minutes with 75 questions (I get nervous and take tests fast too) and didn't have any problem

Wow, congratulations! I envy you fast test takers. I was usually in the middle, or sometimes towards the end. I would make the mistake of second guessing myself. And, of course changed right answers to wrong answers. I learned that I put way too much thought into questions. In fact, I thought nursing exams were harder than any tests at college. In nursing, there are always two good answers, but you pick the best answer.
When I took my boards, I thought that I must have failed. It shut off at 75 questions and so many questions seemed difficult. But, when I went home and looked up the answers that I had questioned, I felt more confident. I think it took me an hour to take the test.
Again, congratulations.

They have had your results on hold because you were quick to finish?? That's just crazy! I mean, yes, some people try funny business, but good grief!!! I'm a pretty fast test taker, but please!!!
Congrats on passing the exam, but it's just ridiculous that that's a possibility that we cheated just because you were that fast. But, like I said, congrats! At least you know you passed, and they know you were honest in taking it.

I haven't heard of the Pearsonvue thing, Itook boards in 1991. I had to wait 7 LONG streessful weeks for my results. Let's just say it was a long wait!
