This is bullcrap!!!! Cant get a job without experience as rn but been lpn for 8 years

Okay, tell me how this works....when your an LPN, they tell you to go back to school for your RN, better money, job security etc....so now im an RN. Im licensed in Pa, SC, and Fl. I work agency. Been in a variety of different settings. I work LTC, home health, corrections, schools, med surg,etc...I have applied to EVERY hospital in all three states and I get"you must have one year hospital RN experience" well how the hell do you get it???????? These hospitals in Fl, expecially florida hospital systems ,claim to need 100s of RNs but they wont hire you without experience..even if youve had years of experience as an LPN and have worked med surg thru agency. I have thousands in student loans now because I wanted a better future and now this??? Im SO sick of these hospitals claiming a nursing shortage but they wont get off their butts to train those of us that are more than willing to work! Halifax hospital, florida hospital of flagler and ormond..dont even bother applying there!

Im about ready to stand out front of the hospitals with a sign that says"IF YOUR LOVED ONE CANT GET ONE ON ONE CARE, ITS NOT BECAUSE THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF NURSES ITS BECAUSE THE HOSPITALS WONT HIRE THE THOUSANDS OF RNS THAT ARE OUT OF WORK!!!!!" I have level 2 clearances, ACLS, all background screenings you can imagine, health screen passes etc....this is BS!!!!!!!

I just looked online to veterans affairs in SC and you know they want a MASTERS degree to be an RN med surg nurse!!!! COME on!!!!!!!!

I am sick of hearing this crap! All you hospital administrators that boo hoo about your shortage of nurses...get off your butt, take a few cents from your pockets and use it to train us YOUR way if thats so important to you! Think of your patients for once!

And schools...if you cant get us a job when we get out, quit telling us how wonderful our future will be as an RN and quit charging us out the butt for an education that wont do us any good. That is of course unless your ideal job is working in a nursing home for the rest of your life!

And travel nursing agencies...you need nurses to fill your slots...you need to talk to these damn hospitals and open the door for new grads if you want to make any money off us.

I have more experience and have seen more, done more as an LPN than a lot of these RNs that are on the floor have.

America...the land of opportunity...yea right!
