Hi all - I am new to this site so sorry if i post this in the wrong spot!
Anyway, I am thinking about going back to school to become a Nurse. I currently have my Bachelors of Science in Education as well as my Master of Education, grades 4-9 (Math and History) . I am back and forth between if I should just attend an associates degree RN program, which I could start sooner, or wait a year and attend an accelerated BSN program.
I would eventually want to possibly even teach nursing classes down the road... so I don't know if that is something I would have to have a BSN verse an RN or if the fact I would be an RN with a masters in Education would qualify me.
Please let me know what you have done and/or why you decided on one verse the other.
THANKS!
kzens, LPN

if you are in a hurry, then go for the associates in nursing! but for teaching nursing classes a BSN will be better. im not quite sure if you "need" a BSN to teach but either way, a BSN is better for nursing and teaching :)

You'll definitely need at least a BSN to teach nursing, as well as lots of hands on experience. I work at a community college and all of our professors are MSN and working on their doctorates.

I believe if you already have a bachelors in a different field you can also go the direct entry Master's degree program in nursing as well. that will enable you to do teaching as well as specialize.
