First and foremost, Happy New Year's everyone! ?
Currently turning to this forum for some insight/info/advice. I currently work as a postpartum nurse and am thinking of switching/transitioning to L&D. OB has been a longstanding interest of mine since my clinicals in nursing school. Fortunely, I got the opportunity to switch specialties from med-surg to postpartum, which I chose since I wasn't sure that I wanted to go into L&D just yet. I'm feeling like it's time for me to challenge myself a bit more and go into L&D but I am sort of nervous/anxious as to how I would adapt to that segment of OB (as you can guess, the two units are separate from each other rather than being a LDRP). I was wondering how easy/difficult would it be to adjust/adapt to L&D with a postpartum background?
I've fortunately floated as a nursery nurse a couple of times and was able to see some of the action without having issues with seeing deliveries. However, I feel like that I only saw the surface of what actually goes on in the unit on a daily basis. Any insight/info/advice would be much appreciated!
